Cannon Caters to Coddled Canines
By Gabrielle Arnold from the Orlando Business Journal
Dogs need to socialize, too. With this in mind, Shana Cannon opened Canine Lounge in Orlando last month. Canine Lounge provides basic dog services, like grooming, in a day-camp atmosphere, which Cannon says "is guaranteed to leave dogs equally as pooped as their owners by the end of the day."
Canine Lounge's daily fee is $22, but five-, 10- and 20-day packages are available and average about $4 less per day. New dogs go through a half-day evaluation period that determines their activity level and placement into one of three groups: big-energy, small-energy or senior.
Canine Lounge also makes house calls to provide pet services for vacationers or dogs living within a 15-mile radius of the facility. Among Canine Lounge's grooming services is a self-service bathing area where dog owners can wear waterproof aprons while they scrub their dogs and avoid clogging home bathtubs with hairballs.
And don't worry if you or your dog suffers from separation anxiety. Thanks to the facility's webcam, "You can watch your dog play all day," Cannon says.
